Description: The Broadcasting Instructor position consists of instructing the first and second-year Broadcasting students by following state and dual credit standards, managing the classroom, completing all dual credit professional development, preparing students for careers in Radio and Television, creating lessons and projects, communicating with community partners, supervising students in the lab, maintaining the WKPW studio and towers, and maintaining student files and grades. The Broadcasting Instructor is a New Castle School employee at WKPW Studio in Knightstown High School. This is a New Castle Career Center Instructor position.
Tasks:
- Teach state and dual credit standards
- Monitor students while working in studios
- Communicate with community partners
- Communicate with Career Center Office staff and Knightstown High School staff
- Complete standard school incident reports as needed
- Assign work to students
- Manage the classroom
- Assure students meet professional standards
- Maintain the WPW Studio and equipment
- Clean equipment
- Organize Equipment
- Keep lab neat
- Maintain radio tower
- Follow FCC and regulations
- Work with WKPW Studio Engineers and legal counsel on updates and business
- Develop and assign lessons, quizzes, tests, projects, etc.
- Keep track of required paperwork that students turn in and notify students of missing paperwork.
- Maintain grade books and attendance in PowerSchool
- Enter grades in the Dual Credit online grade book.
- Work well with other Instructors and Career Center staff
- Plan and complete paperwork for Field Trips
- Have meetings with community partners and the advisory board twice a year to maintain a relevant curriculum to prepare students for work and or post-secondary
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Recent Broadcasting Experience OR Communications/ Broadcasting/TV Radio Education Teaching License
- Experience managing and maintaining a studio
- CPR Certified or willing to get certified
- Computer skills
- Willing to get credentialed from Ivy Tech or Vincennes University to teach dual credit courses
- If using Broadcasting experience, willing to obtain a Workplace Specialist License during the first 2 years of teaching .https://www.in.gov/doe/educators/educator-licensing/workplace-specialist/
