Health Assistant Float/Substitute

Position Title: Health Assistant – Float/Substitute
Reports To: Building Principal and Corporation Nurse
Employment Type: On-Call / As Needed

Position Summary

The Health Assistant Float/Substitute provides health office support and student care coverage throughout the corporation on an as-needed basis. This position assists in maintaining a safe and healthy school environment by providing basic first aid, administering medications, supporting student health services, and communicating effectively with school staff, students, and families.

Qualifications
  • Medical certification preferred
  • Experience working with children or in a healthcare setting preferred
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times
  • Ability to respond calmly and effectively in emergency situations

    Essential Job Functions
    • Provide first aid and emergency care to students
    • Implement state-mandated screening programs
    • Review and evaluate immunization records
    • Administer medications in accordance with corporation policy and procedures
    • Maintain communication and documentation pertinent to the nursing office
    • Assist with the development and implementation of student health care plans
    • Support health promotion for students, staff, parents, and the community
    • Maintain complete confidentiality regarding student and staff information
    • Demonstrate dependable attendance to meet the health needs of students
    • Travel between school buildings as needed to provide coverage and support
    • Complete any other duties assigned by the Building Principal or Corporation Nurse

      Additional Information
      • Position is on-call/as needed with no guaranteed hours
      • Daily assignments may vary by building and student health needs
      • Must be flexible and available to respond to substitute coverage requests
